How to use One Drive to Back Up Files
There are multiple ways to backup your laptop. Technology Services recommends using OneDrive, which is included with Office 365. Other cloud base options such as Google drive and using an external jump drive/hard drive are also popular.
Logging into OneDrive:
PC Users: If using a VCSU assigned PC laptop, OneDrive will be preloaded and found in the Start Menu applications.
Mac Users: If using a VCSU assigned Mac laptop, OneDrive will be installed via the VCSU Self Service App that you use to install Office 365. You will find these apps in the Applications folder in your Finder.
Note: You can also download OneDrive using this link if not using a VCSU assigned computer: https://www.onedrive.com/download

Using OneDrive:
- OneDrive acts much like any other folder on your PC or Mac. The only difference is that the data within it is also stored in the cloud.
- You can add as many folders as you wish, and create any system of organization that suits you.
- Adding files is as simple as copying or dragging them to the OneDrive folder or appropriate subfolder.
- After you put files in the OneDrive folder, you can access them from any Mac, PC, or mobile device that has OneDrive installed or use web interface by logging into https://outlook.office.com and choosing OneDrive from the top left App Launcher menu.
- The OneDrive app runs as a menu bar item that includes sync status for files kept in the OneDrive folder. OneDrive will notify you if all your data is up to date.
- If you do not see the OneDrive application icon, launch it from the application menu and verify your files are backed up.
