VCSU alumnus Jacob Olson ’15, former victim services and prevention coordinator at the Abused Persons Outreach Center (APOC) in Valley City, put together a short video addressing domestic violence and sexual assault. Sexual assault on college campuses is a growing problem.
Appearing in the video, which can be found at youtu.be/j5PBbSuAyHU, are VCSU students Monika Browne, Malik Jackson, Brianna Johnson , Richard Langdeaux, Nick Lee, Mara Nysetvold and Georgia Williams; VCSU alumni Preston Jensen, Matt Nielson, Mary Lee Nielson and Olson; and local supporters Caron Berg, Michelle Grebel, Susan Kringlie and Emmy Swedlund.
The video was produced with the help of Paul Hoplin of Twin Tandem Studios in Grand Forks, N.D.
“I wanted to make an ad about sexual assault and domestic violence using real people from the community,” said Olson. “I know survivors who have incredible stories, and I want to use the platform I’ve been given to honor them and give them a voice.”
Olson encourages supporters to share the video link. Contact APOC at 701-845-0078 for more information about stemming domestic violence and sexual assault.
