- American Sign Language (ASL)
- Silver and Gold Seal = 8 credits of ASL 101 and ASL 102
- Spanish
- Silver Seal = 8 credits of SPAN 101 and SPAN 102
- Gold Seal = 12 credits of SPAN 101, SPAN 102 and SPAN 201
- Languages Other Than ASL or Spanish
- Silver Seal = 8 credits of Humanities Literacies General Education
- Gold Seal = 12 credits of Humanities Literacies General Education
The credit equivalents for seals earned from states that utilize a scale that differs from silver and gold will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
How to Earn Credit For Your State Seal of Biliteracy
1. After your graduate high school and have the Seal of Biliteracy listed on your high school transcript, have a finalized copy of your transcript sent to VCSU's Enrollment Services Office (admissions)
2. Email Enrollment Services at enrollment.services@vcsu.edu and the Office of the Registrar at registrar@vcsu.edu to notify them that you have earned the Seal of Biliteracy
3. Be accepted to VCSU
4. You must request credit for your seal within 3 academic years after graduating from high school
5. Students who graduated high school prior to 2025 are not eligible to earn credit from the Seal of Biliteracy
Once the request email is received, the Office of the Registrar will verify the Seal of Biliteracy on the official final high school transcript received by admissions to determine if university level language credits can be granted.
