North Dakota Dollars for Scholars: Create or Update Your Profile and Apply for Scholarships by 4/1/2025

North Dakota Dollars for Scholars (NDDFS) scholarship applications are now open. The application deadline for all NDDFS scholarships is April 1. Please note that local chapter deadlines may be different. Additional scholarship details and the online application are available at www.northdakota.dollarsforscholars.org. To apply, students must create or update a profile in the online student center. This profile allows students to be matched to scholarships based on their personal information. Students will also be able to use this profile to find future opportunities from their local chapter as well as NDDFS and the national organization.
North Dakota Dollars for Scholars accepts scholarship applications from North Dakota high school seniors and college students. Scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,500 will be awarded to use for the 2025-2026 academic year. Applicants must have graduated from a North Dakota high school. Students from a wide range of backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Scholarship offerings cover a variety of categories including vocational/technical schools, military family, community service, and continuing college students. Scholarships sponsored by professional associations are also available to college students in specific majors.
Please note, you do not have to provide a reference(s).
2025-2026 Scholarship Details
Scholarships Available to Current College Students
Robert and Doris Alin Legacy Scholarship:
- $2,500 scholarships will be awarded to students pursuing an education degree
- Applicants must be a junior or senior with a 2.5 GPA or higher
- Applicants must be a full-time student and be employed at least 10 hours per week
Military Scholarship:
- $1,000 scholarship will be available to enlisted/active-duty North Dakota military members, North Dakota veterans, retired North Dakota military members and dependents of a member of a North Dakota military unit
- Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA or higher and be a full-time student
James A. Guy Memorial Scholarship:
- $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to returning college students
- Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA or higher and be a full-time student
Returning Student and Graduate Student Scholarship:
- $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to returning college students
- Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA or higher
Brad and Julie Burgum Community Service Scholarship:
- $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors or returning college students with preference given to students attending North Dakota State University in honor of Brad Burgum’s years of service he gave to Central Cass Dollars for Scholars
- Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA or higher
Professional Association Returning Students/Graduate Students Scholarship:
- $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to returning college students
- Students in the following majors may be eligible for scholarships sponsored by Professional Associations:
- Accounting
- Agricultural Economics
- Business
- Chiropractic
- Communications
- Computer and Information Technology Sciences (including programing, data processing, web design, system analysis, networking, engineering, simulator maintenance, etc.)
- Economics
- Finance
- Dental assisting
- Physician Assistant
Scholarships Available to High Schools Seniors
Brad and Julie Burgum Community Service Scholarship:
- $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors or returning college students with preference given to students attending North Dakota State University in honor of Brad Burgum’s years of service he gave to Central Cass Dollars for Scholars
- Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA or higher
Dr. Fradkin Community Service/Volunteer Scholarship:
- $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to students who excel in community service
- Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA or higher
Edward G. Marek Memorial Vocational Scholarship:
- $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student attending a vocational or technical/trade school
- Applicant must have a 2.0 GPA or higher and be a full-time student
- Students pursing mechanics, electrical, welding, surveying will receive preference for scholarship
- Preference will be given to students graduating from Central Cass High School
- Based on financial need and merit, students must include FAFSA EFC information
JoAnn Link Hetzel Vocational/Technical/Trade School Scholarship:
- $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student attending a vocational or technical/trade school
- Applicant must have a 2.5 GPA or higher and be a full-time student
- Students pursing mechanics, electrical, welding, surveying will receive preference for scholarship
Mallie Ann Breuer Scholarship:
- $1,000 scholarship available to high school seniors with preference given to students graduating from Wahpeton High School
- Applicant must be enrolling in a nursing program
- Applicant must have a 3.00 GPA or higher
Midwest AgEnergy Scholarship:
- $1,000 scholarships available to high school seniors to plan to pursue a degree that supports the energy and/or agriculture industries
- Preference will be given to students graduating from one of the following schools: Garrison, Max, Underwood, Turtle Lake-Mercer, Washburn, Wilton, Center-Stanton, Hazen, Jamestown, Valley City, Barnes County North, Pingree, Medina or Montpelier - OR- any senior who is a child/stepchild of a Midwest AgEnergy employee
- Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA or higher
Military Scholarship:
- $1,000 scholarship will be available to enlisted/active-duty North Dakota military members, North Dakota veterans, retired North Dakota military members and dependents of a member of a North Dakota military unit
- Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA or higher and be a full-time student
Opportunity Scholarship:
- $1,000 renewable scholarship is available to North Dakota students who are seniors in high school with a GPA of 2.5 – 3.25
- Applicant must be pursuing post-secondary education in North Dakota, including but not limited to trade and vocational programs
- The recipient may be awarded the scholarship annually for a maximum of four (4) years
Barnes County Corn and Soybean Plot Scholarship:
- $1,000 Scholarship available to high school seniors in Barnes County
- Applicant must be pursuing an agriculture related degree
Ardon Herman Memorial Scholarship
- $600 scholarship available to high school seniors with preference given to students from the Maddock and Leeds area
- Applicants must be pursuing a degree related to conservation practices and/or an agricultural-related degree
How to Apply for Scholarships
Over $90,000 in scholarships are available to students through North Dakota Dollars for Scholars. North Dakota high school seniors and college students are encouraged to apply. Applications are open on January 1 and will be accepted online through April 1. Scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,500 will be awarded for the 2025-2026 academic year. Applicants must have graduated from a North Dakota high school or were home-educated in North Dakota. Students from a wide range of backgrounds will be selected as scholarships cover a variety of areas including vocational/technical schools, military family, community service, and continuing college students. Scholarship details and a link to the online application are available at www.northdakota.dollarsforscholars.org.
How to apply?
- Create or edit your student profile by logging in under the Students & Parents tab at www.northdakota.dollarsforscholars.org.
- Remember the deadline for North Dakota Dollars for Scholars Scholarships is April 1. The deadline for local or national scholarships may be different.
- By editing your profile, you will be matched to scholarships to which you meet the minimum eligibility requirements. You may be matched to Dollars for Scholars scholarships offered by your local chapter (if you graduated from a high school with a local chapter), state chapter and even national opportunities.
- To fill the gap of awarding scholarships to middle-income students, there are a few scholarships that will require financial information (EFC from the FAFSA) to be matched to them. We recommend providing this information to ensure you are matched to as many eligible scholarships as possible. It isn’t a requirement to complete the Financial Info section but know that there may be some scholarships you may have been eligible for that you will not be matched to.
- You do NOT need to complete the References section of your profile to be matched to scholarships from North Dakota Dollars for Scholars. You may still apply for scholarships even if your profile is less than 100% complete.
- Next visit the My Scholarships section of your profile to view and apply for scholarships to which you have been matched. Click each scholarship to answer additional questions and to submit an online application. You must submit to each scholarship to be considered.
- Be sure to update your profile annually and reapply for new scholarships between January 1 and April 1.
