Steps to follow before turning in an iPad
Follow the steps below to disable Find My, sign out of iCloud, and remove a passcode on an iPad:
Disable Find My:
1.1. In the Settings app, tap on your Apple ID at the top of the settings menu.
1.2. Tap "Find My."
1.3. Tap "Find My iPad."
1.4. Toggle the switch off to disable Find My on your iPad.
1.5. You may be asked to enter your Apple ID password to confirm. Enter the password and tap "Turn Off."
Sign out of iCloud:
2.1. In the Settings app, tap on your Apple ID at the top of the settings menu.
2.2. Scroll down and tap on "Sign Out."
2.3. You may be asked to enter your Apple ID password to confirm. Enter the password and tap "Turn Off."
Remove Passcode:
3.1. In the Settings app, tap "Face ID & Passcode" or "Touch ID & Passcode" depending on your iPad model.
3.2. Enter your current passcode when prompted.
3.3. Tap "Turn Passcode Off."
3.4. You will be asked to confirm if you want to remove the passcode. Tap "Turn Off" to proceed.
Erase iPad:
4.1. In the Settings app, tap "General"
4.2. Tap "Transfer or Reset iPad"
4.3. Tap "Erase all Content and Settings"
4.4. Follow the onscreen instructions to finish the erase. You are successful if the iPad reboots up to a "Welcome" screen or a language selector.
After completing these steps, Find My will be disabled, your iPad will no longer be linked to your iCloud account, the passcode will be removed, and all data erased. Your iPad is now ready to be turned in.
