[Windows 11] - VCSU PC Setup, rev 07/07/2023
These instructions will help setup an NDUS Intune managed Windows 11 operating system on your PC laptop.
Please make sure to follow along during setup.
NOTE: You must be on a wireless network to setup the laptop. If you have not changed or have forgotten your VCSU/NDUS password, we recommend that you change or reset your password on the NDUS Help Desk support site at https://ndus.rightanswers.com/portal/ss/ using another computer or phone prior to setting up this machine. If you have not setup "DUO" two-factor authentication, please go to https://2fa.ndus.edu.
Setup User Account - you must have a valid NDUS credentials to create an account
- Make sure you are near an area with an available secure wi-fi connection.
- We recommend plugging your AC adaptor into a power source during setup.
- Press power button on the top right of the keyboard.
- If your laptop boots up to installing system updates or a different screen other than what was described below, allow updates to install and follow instructions.
- When the "Country or Region" screen appears, make sure "United States" is selected and click "Yes".
- When the "Network" screen appears, select "VCSU" if on campus or any wi-fi network with internet access if outside campus.
- If using the "VCSU" wi-fi, enter your VCSU/NDUS username@ndus.edu as a username. Enter your NDUS password as well. When prompted for a certificate, click "Continue".
- If using a personal wi-fi, enter your credentials and click Continue.
- Once the wi-fi is shown as connected, click "Next", the laptop will start set-up and possibly restart, if the "Network" screen appears again, follow instructions above until you see the NDUS sign in page.
- When the "NDUS Sign In" screen appears, enter your VCSU/NDUS username as username@ndus.edu, and click Next.
- The Next screen should be an NDUS Portal Login prompting for your VCSU/NDUS password. Enter your password and press Enter.
- If login does not work, you may not be on VCSU campus, wi-fi is not available, your password may be incorrect, or some other issue may be causing the problems. Attempt to login at least twice before contacting the VCSU Tech Services Desk.
- Once successfully logged in, you will be prompted for DUO Authentication. If you have not already set-up DUO, you will be prompted to setup, otherwise, choose and option to continue.
- When prompted for "Fingerprint Security", choose desired option and follow instructions.
- When prompted for "Windows Hello", click "OK". You will be prompted to enter a code sent to your phone or be asked to verify yourself another way. Enter information as needed.
- Enter a new pin when prompted. NDUS requires six characters or digits. When finished, click "Ok".
- Your PC laptop will now finished setup. It may take about 15 minutes or more for the server to push all remaining applications.
Setup Information:
- Applications will automatically download to your PC including Adobe Reader, Cortex Anti-Virus, Chrome w/ VCSU Bookmarks, Microsoft Office 365, etc..
- Windows Updates will be downloaded in the background while connected to any internet connection. You will be prompted to install updates and restart your computer when able. These updates are necessary to keep your laptop safe and secure while on the network. If not prompted, you are recommended to search for "Check for Updates", and select Check for Updates.
- Microsoft 365 Office applications should also be downloading updates in the background. If prompted for updates, please download, and install.
- When opening the Adobe Acrobat Reader application for the first time, you may be prompted to change the default .pdf viewer, follow instructions as shown.
- Each of the installed web browsers have bookmark links to the most popular sites visited. If you wish to import your bookmarks from another computer, simply sign in on both computers and make sure the 'Sync' is enabled.
- Restart your laptop after set-up to ensure services are refreshed and the machine time is updated.
- Restarting your laptop is also required on campus if your VCSU/NDUS password credentials was changed. Login with new credentials.
