State Board of Higher Education Policy 701.1 (Leave Without Pay) provides for employee leave (without pay) for professional activities (such as education, research, or temporary employment) that will improve the employee professionally and will directly or indirectly benefit the institution or North Dakota University System. Leave without pay may also be granted as a disability accommodation or as required by state or federal law, including the Family Medical Leave Act. Regular staff employees should follow Section 21 in the HR Manual, Leave without Pay.
