Institutional and General Education Goals and Outcomes
VCSU has adopted a set of 6 Institutional Learning Outcomes (ILO). The table attached in this solution identifies the ILOs and the targeted areas of campus responsible for providing data to inform campus about student success in each area. Assessment data is reported for General Education Learning Outcomes (GELO), Program Learning Outcomes (PLO), and Student Affairs Learning Outcomes (SALO) to assess overall learning effectiveness at VCSU through the ILOs. The matrix highlights assessment target areas for each of the learning outcomes. Pursuant to the campus-specific technology mission, Technological Skills will be assessed in both academic program areas. Broad Knowledge and Intellectual Skills will be targeted in General Education assessment. Specialized Knowledge, Intellectual Skills, and Applied Learning will be the focus of academic programs. Personal and Social Responsibility will be targeted in General Education and Student Affairs program assessment.

Institutional Learning Outcome Guide
The six Institutional Learning Outcomes (ILO), which are drawn from the Lumina Degree Qualifications Profile, with the addition of Technology Literacy as its own outcome, include expectations for research and communication competence, critical and creative thinking, and engagement in the world outside the classroom, along with specialized knowledge (program content), ensuring both curricular quality and guidance for developing program and course improvements. The linked file in this solution describes each ILO and provides a rubric to guide assessment of learning activities aligned with each outcome. More information about VCSU's assessment plan and process is available in the VCSU Assessment Guide. Link to Assessment Guide Booklet
