VCSU Scholarships for Current Students Returning Next Year
Valley City State University awards scholarships to numerous returning students each year. The Valley City State University scholarship program is made possible only through the generous donations from alumni and friends. Students must be enrolled full-time at VCSU to be eligible for scholarships, and be taking a minimum of 3 on campus credits during the award year. Valley City State University does not award summer scholarships. Scholarship values and number of scholarships available each year can vary due to current investment rates. To see a list of the individual scholarship programs available through VCSU for current students who will be returning to VCSU, go to the following link: vcsu.academicworks.com. HOW TO COMPLETE THE VCSU SCHOLARSHIPS APPLICATION The application can be found at the following link or by using the scan code below: vcsu.academicworks.com. (Available November 15 - February 15) Sign in using your VCSU/NDUS username and password. Complete the General Application. Click on "Save and Keep Editing", if you need more time to complete the General Application. Once you have completed the General Application, click on "Finish and Submit". Under the "Opportunities" menu, go to "All" in the dropdown list. Look for the scholarships that show "Apply". (Not all scholarships require an additional application) If you feel the scholarship opportunity applies to you, click on "Apply" and complete the additional required information. To see more information about the scholarship opportunity, click on the Scholarship Title. You may need to click on "Show # more" to see the full description Click on "Save and Keep Editing", if you need more time to complete the additional information. Once you have completed the additional information for the scholarship, click on "Finish and Submit". Use the back arrow to get back to the Opportunities page, or go to "All" in the dropdown list under the "Opportunities" menu. Click on the "Next" button on the bottom of the page to see more opportunities. IMPORTANT: To be considered for a scholarship based on financial need, current students must complete the FAFSA for the next academic year.

VCSU Institutional Scholarship Appeal/Proration Request Form
Valley City State University undergraduate students are required to be enroll at full-time status (12 credits or more) throughout their undergraduate career to receive VCSU Endowed Scholarships as a returning student. However, there may be a period when full-time enrollment does not match a student's situation. In these cases, a student may request that their institutional scholarship(s) be prorated by submitting the attached Scholarship Appeal/Proration Request Form. Consideration for scholarship proration is only available for undergraduate scholarships. Accepting a Scholarship and Completing Thank You in Academic Works
How to accept your scholarship and write your thank you. 1. Open the scholarship offer email from financial.aid@vcsu.edu in your VCSU email account. Click the link provided. This link will take you to https://vcsu.academicworks.com. You will see a screen that looks like the photo below. Log in to Academic Works with the same User Id and Password that you use for blackboard and campus connection. 2. Once logged in you will see a screen that has your scholarship(s) listed. Click on the scholarship offer to accept it. Once it has been accepted, you will be brought to a post-acceptance page where you will see the following statement. “Congratulations on being awarded the (Name of scholarship) Scholarship. This scholarship has been funded through the generosity of the (name of where the scholarship came from). *As a token of our appreciation, we require that all students receiving a scholarship submit a Thank You letter addressed to the donor. Upon acceptance of your scholarship you will be prompted to submit this thank you letter. (Please address your thank you letter to (the donor will be listed here) Recognition of our donors is a very important step in ensuring the continuation of their support. The scholarship will be included in your Financial Aid Offer for the upcoming academic year once this Thank You letter has been received. If you understand and agree to the terms of this scholarship, please click the “Accept” button below.” 3. Write a thank you to the donor in the text box provided. Guideline are below. Uploading a photo of yourself is optional. 4. Once your scholarship has been accepted and the post-acceptance has been completed and submitted you are done! Scholarship Thank You Letter Guidelines Salutation: Dear (Donor Name/s or Organization Name), Opening Paragraph: Use the first paragraph to state the purpose of your letter and acknowledge the specific scholarship you have been awarded. Body of Letter: Share something about yourself (your name, major, class level, hometown, activities you are involved in, etc.), your goals, and why the scholarship is important to you. Closing Paragraph: Close by thanking the donor again.
